Teachers as Readers
To encourage teachers and administrators to stay
current with quality children’s and adolescent literature, teaching materials
and professional issues the Shenandoah Valley Reading Council has developed
Teachers as Readers. Creating a
group of colleagues that meets regularly and discusses readings give educators a
chance to grow intellectually by reading. These
groups also give opportunities for professional growth and sharing.
Sharing educational literature with colleagues not only harbors
professional knowledge but in turn sets the stage for reading growth in
students.
The Shenandoah Valley Reading Council would like recognize Teachers
as Readers groups and ensure it continuance by awarding the group with a grant
of $100 with which to purchase reading material.
Coordinators of TAR groups should fill out the attached form and return
it by December 31, 2006. To be eligible for the grant, all members of the group must
be members of the SVRC and the group must include a school administrator.
Membership in the SVRC is welcome up to the December 31 deadline.
